About Toro….

The new NFC technology (Near-Field Communication) is to become a milestone in the way users interact with their mobile phones.

This technology is an essential element of the value chain between a mobile service and the user.

Telecom, payment systems, transportation systems, advertisers, etc. are aware of the potential of the technology and are starting to reshape their businesses in order to try to be central in a new type of payment habits.

In this new context, TORO’s mission is two-fold:

1) Offer expertise to the future main actors of the NFC related business when it comes to implementing NFC based solutions and services (based on the “NFC Engine”, a proprietary software package that manages NFC applications).

2) Offer to end-users a secure and user-friendly version of the “NFC Engine”, so as to help end-users manage their NFC applications and enjoy additional services.

TORO is the first company in Asia fully dedicated to develop mobile software and services around Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. TORO chose Taiwan as the starting point for the company’s operations because when it comes to adopting the NFC technology, Taiwan is Today in a unique situation. The NFC ecosystem in Taiwan is indeed very close to being complete, hence ready for a massive development of NFC based services. This is neither the case in other countries of Asia, nor in the United States or Europe.

TORO’s software, Akami suite is a platform that allows merchants, banks, and MNOs to build their NFC business case: It is a secure browser with a real GUI, it is a platform with a widget system to easily add and remove services, and it is complemented with a back-office server to manage the download of Adgets (widgets for advertising, CRM and direct marketing). Akami suite was finalist at the GSMA Asia Mobile Congress for the Mobile Innovation Awards 2007. TORO is also the official organizer for MobileMonday Taipei chapter. MobileMonday is a global community for mobile industry. There are over 50 chapters in all the major cities in the world.
